Frequently asked questions.
Why do I need your service?
Parks Canada launches all their summer campsites for their most popular park, Banff, on a single date. Upon opening the queue this year, over 48,000 individual accounts were logged in to snag one of only a few hundred campsites per day.
Glacier National Park will not allow you to drive through the park between the hours of 7:00 am and 3:00 pm without a special pass that sells out within seconds of launching.
Due to bridge washouts, popular hiking trails near Mt Rainier closed indefinitely.
Do you want to leave your trip to chance or do you want to let someone else handle the details for you? I have extensive experience navigating Recreation . Gov , ParksCanada, HipCamp and Reserve America. I can help you snag coveted sites and passes.
Can I just wait until offseason to avoid that?
Offseason in some locations is amazing. For instance, multiple campgrounds in Alaska had as few as 5 other campers last time I visited in offseason.
That being said, some of the more popular parks, such as Glacier and Rainier, are impassable in offseason through main parts of the park. While you can visit small portions, most roads are snow covered and vehicles aren’t allowed. This severely limits the hikes and sightseeing you have available.
How far out do I have to hire you?
While you could book with me a week before a trip and I could still help you plan your day to day, the earlier you sign up for my services, the better odds I have at helping you make the most of your trip. Most campgrounds start booking months in advance, hotels can be fully booked at popular destinations a year or more before travel dates. There are always cancellations I would be able to monitor to try and get you into your preferred areas, but if you are able to start working with me at least 6 months prior to your travel dates, I will have much more flexibility and availability to choose from.
Do I have to stay in one location?
Absolutely not! Road trips are my specialty. The sky is the limit on our planning. If you want to see multiple locations during your vacation, I will help you make that happen. If you like to take a bit more of the relaxing route and stay in one park or even one campground for your trip duration, we will still make it unforgettable.
Why does The Denali package have added fees for booking?
The Yosemite and Rainier packages will require you to book your own activities, campgrounds and passes, though I will be sending extensive guides on how to navigate the systems. With those packages, I do not incur any additional costs planning your trip as you will be booking these yourself.
With The Denali package, I will book activities, campgrounds, and passes for you to take the stress away. But with that addition, some activities such as a helicopter tour or guided hikes could cost more than the entire service I provide. Once we have agreed upon all activities and final costs, you will be billed separately for the cost of these bookings up front. For instance, if a campground inside Banff National park is $32 per night and you stay 4 nights, I will be sending you an additional invoice for $128. There are no additional mark ups on bookings.
Will you book flights for me?
You will be required to book your own flights, but I can help you narrow down the best timing windows for arrivals and departures, as well as which airports in your vicinity will provide the best flight.
Do I have to camp in the park?
Absolutely not. While I will always argue the merits of staying inside National Parks and Forests due to the ease of access to the park and better trail availability, I can definitely help you find hotels, AirBNB’s, or glamping spots if that is a little more up your alley.
What if I don’t have any camping gear?
Don’t worry, I’ve got your back. There are several options here; from gear rentals to CamperVan bookings, or just purchasing your own gear. Depending on the location you are traveling to, I will do the research for you and make sure you have everything you need.
Can you guarantee I will get to see all my dream sights?
Unfortunately, I cannot 100% guarantee I can get ahold of every single campground or pass you may desire. But I will work exhaustively to make sure I have comparable backup plans for you or workarounds to get as close to your ideal locations as possible.
